1 GEM BOOST FOR CLASH OF CLANS 4TH BIRTHDAY

Clash of Clans has been at the top of the mobile game market for a long time now. In fact, the game recently celebrated its 4th birthday, which is a remarkable run for a freemium game. A lot of Clash of Clan clone games have appeared and tried to capture its level of success, as well as more recent challengers in Clash Royale and Pokémon GO. While both of those games grabbed the headlines, neither is showing the staying power that Clash of Clans has sustained.

The Clash development team announced the anniversary in-game, as well as on Twitter with the image below. To celebrate the milestone and to reward their millions of players the game delivered one of the fan favorite boosts from over the years. For only 1 gem per collector the mine or pump will be on boost for an entire week. A mine or pump boost doubles the production rate of each unit. For example, if a player has three max level dark elixir pumps at Town Hall 10 or 11, typically each pump would make 100 elixir per hour, times 3 would make 300 per hour or 7,200 a day. However, on the boost that would become 14,400 a day, or over the course of this week long boost over 100,000 dark elixir! That is a massive resource win for all players, regardless of what level they are actually playing at right now.

The gold mine, elixir and dark elixir pump resource boost comes at a great time for the company. Clash of Clans typically operates on seasonal updates, with new troops, buildings, spells, etc. being delivered either Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. The Summer 2016 update had been very lackluster, only delivering a new level to the Giant troop and the Archer Tower defensive building. Neither are impressive changes individually, or combined. The light update is likely due to the fact that most of the development team takes the summer off.

Now on the flip side, Clash of Clans fall updates have been game changers. In the past players were treated to new troops, new buildings, and even the massive shift of Clan Wars during past fall updates. The 4th anniversary gem boost will help energize the player base during the quite summer and sustain gameplay until the fall. A doubling of all resource types in the games helps in two ways – (1) players are given more elixir, dark elixir and gold to purchase upgrades to troops and defenses and (2) during multiplayer raiding, their targets will now be holding more resources. Overall it will lead to more attacks, more upgrades and activity will spike during this period. From here players can begin to look towards the next big update in the fall and the revealing of details for Clash Con 2, the game’s annual in-person conference. Rumors state the event will be coming to the United States, likely in Los Angeles and set in the October / November time frame. For now, everyone can be satisfied with celebrating in style, swimming in resources like the barbarians in the image above.
